Playground in the South
A sleepy suburb is transforming itself with medium-density housing.
Once a sleepy Bayside town, Mordialloc is looking to become the St Kilda of the south. The main strip has had a facelift with palms planted and a paved walkway to the beach. New cafes, shops and big-brand businesses are also transforming the area. The same applies to residential developments.
“Anywhere you go at the moment there’s a lot going on,” says Andy Taranto, customer relations manager for Urban Town Developments, the company developing Pearl Greens.“The last few projects, we have targeted the bayside area purely because we find it’s a very desirable area,” he says. “It tailors to a lot of lifestyles. Certainly the people who reside here have a good balance of life.”
The Pearl Greens project is at 90 White street, opposite the Woodlands Golf Course. It is a three-level development of 18 apartments. Eight have already been sold. There’s a choice of 10 floor plans, mostly two bedroom with one bathroom but three with two bathrooms. They all have balconies and car spaces. Colour schemes inside and out are designed to complement the seaside environment. “We’re going for a really modern al fresco kind of look,” Mr Taranto says.
Interiors will be white, with the option of a feature wall in a colour of choice. The apartments will have high-quality European finishes. Mr Taranto says Pearl Greens is trying for a point of difference by offering choices of finishes, if buyers are looking for something different to the standard. “They can choose ceramic tiles, floor boards, splashbacks, the type of granite used on the bench, so an individual can come in and customise to their liking somewhat. “ he says. “They’re able to put a bit of themselves into it.”
